Hale MTK

An abandoned mine in Poland. I visited it during trip in January 2021.

The Katowice International Fair (MTK) complex in Chorzów was established in 1963 as the Center of Technical Progress and later became one of the largest trade fair venues in Poland. After the political and economic transformation of 1989, the site shifted toward commercial exhibitions and hosted dozens of international events each year. The complex became globally known after the tragic roof collapse of Hall No. 1 on January 28, 2006, during a pigeon exhibition. The disaster killed 65 people and injured more than 170, making it one of the deadliest construction catastrophes in modern Polish history.
