Koksownia Kościuszko

An abandoned steelworks in Poland. I visited it during our trip in 2010.
This abandoned spot is located in southern Poland. The beginnings of the “Kościuszko” steelworks date back to 1797, when the preliminary work was started to establish an ironworks. The initiator of its creation was Friedrich Wilhelm von Reden, and it was designed by the Scottish engineer John Baildon. In 1802 the steel mill was launched. In the mid-nineteenth century, pig iron production was 4.2 thousand. tonnes and employment of 580 people.
